2008 CLK550 Convertible

I purchased my CLK550 with 74K on the clock. I just found the thread here and service requirements for the trans service. I've got no service records from the previous owners, so I'm assuming that the service was never done and is very overdue.
Is there a way to tell if the service was previously done?

If it was done by an MBZ dealer, they can look it up in their system. Otherwise, I'd assume it's overdue and change it ASAP.

Auto transmission fluid temperature.
I have been advised that the ‘Torque Pro’ smartPhone App gives a reading on the ATF temperature. (The Pro version you have to pay $15 Aust. For)
This was done using the basic ODB2 reader.

Passing this on. I cannot confirm whether this gives an accurate reading or not.
If reliable that would obviate external temp checking, but an expert opinion would be most useful.
