New 06 CLK350 owner needs to replace windshield washer pump
Hi there ! Post #1 of a new owner !
The windshield washer on my just purchased 06 clk350 has stopped working. Searching on this site reveals that it's likely to be the washer motor and that to gain access to it I need to remove the front wheel arch liner.
Any pointers on how to do that (remove the liner) or any other 'gotchas' please ?
It looks like if you don't get the liner back on exactly right bad things can happen ! Do I need to buy any replacement pins or clips ?
Thanks !

This is super easy! Remove the front left road wheel, then remove the front fender shroud. The shroud has a few bolts and several plastic clips. The clips are very sturdy and shouldn't break. If you have a trim tool, it will work, but if not, just use a screwdriver blade to pry the center "stud" loose, then pull on that stud with a pair of pliers and the entire clip should come out once the stud is released.
With the shroud out of the way, you'll see the pump. When you buy a new one, go ahead and buy a new gasket (they are prone to leaking anyway). One final caveat - make sure that when you re-attach the discharge hose to the pump that you get it snapped on tightly. I replaced mine and thought I had it on tight, but after a few months, it popped off.
