Sound like you only plan to put wheels and not lower it. Please don't if you not plan to lower your car.

don't you think it wouldn't fit if i lower it cause i wanted to put 20s but i feel like it wouldn't fit just by putting 20s not mentioning lowering it, if i put 20s i probably wouldn't even have any tire i wanted to put 8.5 in the front and 9.5 in the back

I agree that anything bigger than 19" starts to look wrong. Personally, 18" is just fine with me because I don't want the ride to be any harsher and I don't want to have to look out for potholes more than I already do.

I always liked the idea of putting 20's on my car but instead went for 19s. It looks much cleaner. That extra inch IMO makes the wheels look too bulky for the 209.

19s for the best look.

18s for comfort. I'm going for 18s in 2 months.

I don't think 19s give a better look, I think they look too big unless you drop a lot the car, and it makes it useless and/or uncomfortable in a lot of places and situations. Considering that the CLK is a mid-size mercedes grand tourer, not a lamborghini gallardo or any other toy car, 18s are the best choice IMO.

I went for 18s with a decent drop. Roads here are **** though. I do suggest checking the Fitment thread and getting the back wheels a little wider than stock. Makes the car look so much better.

To the guys that have said "18s for comfort" can I ask your opinion of 17s? I'm shopping for AMG wheels and 18s are OEM on 2008-9, but I have bent and cracked so many wheels on my various MBs that I'm inclined to go 17".

17's will give you an even softer ride - the taller the sidewall, the softer the ride, shorter the sidewall, rougher the ride. Personally I like the look of 19's the best on a lowered CLK, 18's still look good, 17's (unless for winter wheels)... Not my cup of Jawa juice.

17s are ok, why not? I prefer to spend my money on usefull things that make the car faster on the highway like quality suspensions and brakes -and I mean quality, not bling, using calipers apropiated for the brakes pump-, engine tuning and exhaust, radar detectors etc... instead of huge and pointless wheels and tires which make the car slower and less efficient. As i said, I understand the CLK (non black series) as a daily driver, so making it worse for that isn't a point for me

Let me know how much speed you pick up on the highway with those new brakes - mine didn't help at all...

Hey Eddie you can get some real nice 17" here https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...-tires-fs.html

Let me know I might be inclined to drop the price on the listed one now..

Sorry for the OT guys but the wife wants them out of the garage.

BTW these are the only 17"s Kev likes

If you drive on the autobahn you understand it It's more tempting to drive at 250+ kmh if you feel confident in your brakes

Well, being your car a supercharged v8 tuned as hell, the comments about daily driving are pointless You lucky man

I have 20s on my clk500 and have zero rubbing or ride issues, it isn't lowered. A lot of people on this forum do not like the look, and if I was performance modding I would go down to 18 or 19 with lowering kit. They are really sharp in person and everyone loves them... so I would just say to each their own

If I had to do it all over again I would prolly go with 19s, but if you find a nice pair of 20s you like I wouldn't just totally ignore them. If you drive very aggressively or plan to heavily performance mod, then probably best to avoid the 20s.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Mine has the stock 17" rims and they are fine. I drive on a lot of really bad, rutted roads and I greatly appreciate that extra bit of sidewall! Also, 17" rubber is less expensive to replace.
