Milestone Reached
Wow, my car is now 9 years old and just hit the 100k mile mark. By now, I thought I would be rolling in a Ferrari or Rolls, but I can't complain on getting my money's worth out of this baby.
I've learned a lot about the car and was able to do simple mechanical work all thanks to this forum and its members. It really is a low maintenance car with easy oil changes and brake pad changes.
In the 9 years, I haven't had a major issue other than the transmission/coolant leak that was covered under warranty.
I can also say that this car makes it difficult to trade out of. I could have gotten an M3 or an S5 2 years ago, but those cars weren't worth the extra monthly payments now that mine had been free and clear for 5 years now. A 911 or SL63 would be much nicer but much more expensive and not really worth it either.
I still get compliments, mostly because the wheels make a huge difference, and because I just did a full paint correction that makes the paint look awesome. The car still pulls hard when I want it to, and the seats are still one of the most comfortable coupe seats I've sat in.
I want a new car soooo bad, but I may have to keep her forever. Plus, she's only worth the same as the AMG performance package option on a CLS63.

I hope mine has the same trouble-free future.
It is a 2008 and has just done 4,000 miles, so there is some catching-up to do.
I have had some repairs with this car in the first few years which were all covered under warranty. After the warranty, the repairs that I remembered were choke sensor, one headlight controller and 2 front struts. I may have to change the rear struts soon.
I , too, am thinking of a new car but since my CLK is running great and I am afraid that the new car will only give me a sense of "freshness". Since I am not an aggressive driver, the extra performace of the newer direct injection engines is not important.
BTW. I service my car in Mavis MB, Toronto. Highly recommended.
I'm just going to try to keep it fresh by adding quad exhaust, update the eclipse navi with a newer headunit, revamp the sound system, and add a front lip.
I realized I'm old when telling my wife that I was thinking of adding a sub, and she said, "why, so you can listen to 1010wins news with bass??"
Out are the days of loud, trunk rattling music and in are the sad days of news radio and toddler music.
Now, I listen to news radio exclusively.
