The ISF and the S5 seemed to be fairly evenly matched cars both in terms of speed down the straight and cornering abilities. The two cars were slower out of the corners than me and I definitely had more power down the front stretch. It appeared to be a pretty nice car though but I would take the S5 over it - I was really impressed over that cars performance.

The reason i asked is because one of my friends trying to trade his CLK500 to get the IS F . He asked " is it a good choice ? "

Two totally different cars. The ISF will own a stock CLK500 in pretty much every way (which it should) it is a very nice car, no question. Now, an ISF up against a C63 (more comparable than to an old CLK), I'd take the C any day.

I've got to chime in and say it's nice to see an mb enthusiast who actually tracks his ride vs polish and buy floormatts and show at the mall or hooters..... major props. Of course I like my wings too

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate you comments. Because this is 'supposed' to be my last hobby car I wanted to combine all the things I have done with different vehicles in the past all into one;

Luxury daily driver
Track car
Audio car
Show car

Almost done now and enjoying every last frustrating minute of it!

And I would have to agree, the wings do rock

Not to thread jack, but wife got me 15 laps @ MSR in an old nascar style car... 500HP, man trans, fire suit, etc etc.... we'll see if this road-race bug catches on to me

Don't expect big things from my performance..... my track time is mainly 1/4 mile at a time and a couple years autocrossing a blown fox in street mod.

Thanks for the compliment. My 500 doesn't have a manual mode, we only have 'Standard/Sport' & 'Comfort'. I did however add shift paddles to the car and use them when I am on the track - its a night and day difference in conrol over just throwing it in drive and letting the auto make the decisions.

Man I would love to do that! As for road racing, it's so much more technical than drag its like comparing that old NASCAR ride you're about to buckle up into against an F1 car. I use to love mashing the accelerator in a straight line, then one day I thought, wow, this sucks, there has to be something more...

Road racing can be a fun hobby with a stock or mildly modified car or a passion with one built for it (like mine was, for double duty). I think the best thing about it is even if you have a car all done and ready to go - the driver needs to be part of the system.

quick question for you man, how long it takes you to change the gear when you use the shift paddles ? I feel like it takes me 3 seconds just to down shift from the "D" or changing gears in general. Is it just my car does that or your all have that feeling ? Maybe the ECU tuned will solve that problem then ?

I have the same response. I never use the paddles.

The wife's old C63 had much better response from the paddles.

After doing a ECU reset or some very spirited driving the shifting is quite fast. They is very little lag, nowhere near 3 seconds, that's insane. I'm sure it's all related to the damn adaptive shifting BS, I literally click and change, no lag.
