are you sure?, it makes more sense if the longer tip is on the outside. Mine is on the outside

When looking at the tips from above the 'longer' of the two is on the inside, the 'shorter' on the outside. They stagger them like this to follow the contour of the bumper. However, the longer sleeve is supposed to be on the outside so when the car is viewed from the side it covers the otherwise exposed exhaust pipe.
