Changing Audio Components

Has anyone here changed the audio components (head unit, amps, speakers, added sub) in their CLK. I'd appreciate a listing of specific components added or changed and your impressions. I am in the U.S. (and have the factory CD changer) in case MB puts different components in different countries.

I'm thinking of going with an Alpine system. Will the steering wheel controls and information displaying in the instrument cluster be affected by swapping components? Thanks all.

I have 2 Clk 500's on order. One for my father and one for myself. I am taking mine and making it a show car for OZ speakers. There is no way yet to replace the head unit. You will lose the steering wheel controls and the display in the seedometer. I own an audio store in the Florida Keys called Audio Designs. I have put in a special request to Peripheral for an interphase and have not heard anything yet. Soundgate just said they won't do it because it is all fiber optics and digital. I have been doing a lot researching on this lately. There a few options but not what we really want.
If you want more info give us a call.

Sounds like with the Bose system, it's a change all components or nothing deal. I don't want to lose the steering wheel control or the display in the instrument cluster. So it looks like nothing can be changed.

Are there any problems or road blocks with adding a simple sub/amp?

Yeah, I remember reading those posts. Did you ever get the problem fixed? Was the problem with the Bose Auto Pilot or was it something else?

Also, how are you liking the single 10" sub? Does it produce enough bass for your liking? I listen to rap music, but just want to add a LITTLE more punch to fill the hole the stock Bose system has. No need to wake the neighbors. Also, how power of an amp do you have? Thanks for the replies.

I have a JL audio W6 10 and a rockford fosgate punch amp that is 300 watts, it sounds good but I have the problem like everyone else did, I am going to get it fixed as soon as I have time.
