the official new CLK pictures Vs. the new 2003 SL..what do you think???
#2
From those angles the new CLK looks great IMO!! I think the problem is what the CLK looks like with the roof up from the side. That is when the roof line looks a little off and the tail looks somewhat squat.
Thanks for the comparo... those are fun.

Imho, the A$$ end of the new CLK resembles the current SLK, albiet an obese one. Bottom line...You KNOW this is a "C" variant and MBZ makes no apology for it.

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
Taillight clusters on the new generation of MB cars resemble a Doberman Pincher
with clipped ears, first introduced on the Honda Prelude in the mid ninetees.
Now the new CLK will be the "beneficiary" of the MB family look-alike.
Those design elements belong in a dog-show not on a MB car.

I kind of feel sorry for those who bought CLs thinking they had an exclusive look...The new CLK is going to be confused for the CL often. It will be only a matter of weeks after release before some idiot posts a pic of his CLK with the "K" removed.
SL has been given a boost. Looks like the CLK remains an afterthought...especially that ****ty interior!

are the headlights on the new CLK different from the new c class?
my complaints about the new clk is that it looks like a c-class convertible rather than an e class. I will probably get use to it and am planning on trading up to the new clk cab when the AMG comes out (2005 I think).

An "off the wall" speculative correlation/observation; Just as the architecture of most homes built in the late 40's/early 50's reflected the possibility that all the talented architects were drafted and never made it "off the beach", the same analogy can be applied to the latest efforts in auto design. How did these flunkies get through the design studio door??!! And (off topic, kinda...) what about those new Nissans??!(Maxima, Altima)
What the Hell were the designers thinking?? Is this a a big inside joke among designers to see if we'll continue eating up this *****??

The hood does give it more of an SL look than a C coupe look but it is still pretty easy to confuse Mercesed 50k car with there 25k car.
I only wish they would have seperated the headlights like on the new E class. What I am looking for is a converrtible E class that will carry 5 passengers.

The only thing that future CL driver's have going for them is that the car is due for some cosmetic changes to the front clip & the interior. Maybe MBZ will make it noticable enough to justify the price
