kbahl21's build thread
I've been getting a bunch of pm's from various clk owners about stuff ive done and where i have gone to get it done. Instead of answering a million pm's i am making my own build thread to outline all of the mods i have done starting from day 1 to the mods i am now and in the future.... I will update the thread with new pics whenever i get a chance. Ill throw some pics from my side projects in here too. Anyway....
Here is the car bone stock..
see, clk550's come stock with amg tips lol::
The first time i ever painted my wheels i thought gunmetal would be a good idea.
how to paint your wheels...
1. clean thoroughly
2. Dry thoroughly
3. Scuff up wheels so paint sticks. I used 400grit.
4. Rewash and Dry wheels thoroughly
5. Tape off tire from rim
6. Use Duplicolor prep wipe to clean off grease etc.
7. Spray 2 coats of Duplicolor adhesion promoter on outside and inside to ensure paint sticks.
8. Use Duplicolor wheel paint(i used graphite the first time) spray 3 coats evenly on inside and outside of wheel. Start with light coat, then medium then heavy coat.
9. Use Duplicolor Wheel Clear coat, number of coats will vary depending on how shiny you want your wheels. Do at least 1.
10. Let dry, do not touch wheels until they are completely dry
I had some extra paint laying around. So i decided to see how white would look. BAD IDEA lol
Then i did my window tints.
35% in the front
20% in the rear
After a few months of Graphite wheels, i decided to go black.
wheels sanded and taped off
soo much wheel gap
At the same time i painted my wheels black, i tinted my taillights.
To tint my taillights i used Nightshade.
1. 2 light coats of nightshade
2. 1 coat of clear coat in order to seal it
BLACK WHEELS, TINTS, AND TINTED TAILLIGHTS
THEN I DID THE RESONATOR DELETE AND SECONDARY CAT DELETE AT RPM NORTH IN PLAINVIEW
I ALSO REPLACED THE STOCK FILTERS WITH K&N FILTERS... .NO PROBLEMS WITH MAF

then came the black grill
1. Clean and Dry Grill
2. Scuff up grill with 400 grit sandpaper
3. The first time i painted my grill, i used duplicolor wheel paint and clear, but it chipped wayyy to easily. So i started to use GLOSS BLACK BUMPER COATING which was very resistant to rock chips.
I also used NIGHTSHADE to smoke my sidemarkers
then i bought the Carbon Fiber Rear Lip from MBworld Sponsor, GARY@Suvneer
SO... BLACK WHEELS, TINTS, TINTED TAILS, BLACK GRILL AND CF LIP
TRIED TO CLEAN MAF SENSOR AND BROKE THE CLIP LUCKILY I WAS WITH ONE OF MY FRIENDS THAT DRIVES A JDM CAR AND HE HOOKED IT UP

AFTER A WHILE ON DRIVING AROUND ON STOCK PAINTED WHEELS THE GUYS AT D2AUTOSPORT CONVINCED ME TO FINALLY SPEND MONEY ON WHEELS. SO I DID.
FOR A FEW DAYS, THE CAR WAS SITTING AT THE STOCK RIDE HEIGHT
THEN I GOT MY H&R SPRINGS IN. AS WELL AS MB SPRING PAD NUMBER 6. AND THE P1 PERFORMANCE GHOSTRIDER CAMBER KIT
FRONT- 19x8.5 ET25 235/35/19
REAR-- 19x10 ET30 275/30/19 with 3 degrees negative camber
AFTER I DID THE WHEELS, I DECIDED TO GET THE FRONT LIP.
I PURCHASED MY FRONT LIP FROM GARY@SUVNEER ALSO. RPM NORTH IN PLAINVIEW DID THE INSTALL.
QUICK RECAP

FINALLY I DECIDED TO DO THE QUAD TIP SETUP ON MY CAR. I DECIDED TO BUY REP TIPS AND EVEN THOUGH THE COMPANY THAT MAKES THEM ASSURED ME THAT THEY WOULD FIT PERFECTLY, THEY DONT MATCH UP AT ALL. I AM PICKING UP THE OEM TIPS SUNDAY.
Parts Used
magaflow xpipe muffler
vis diffuser
crappy tips
THEN I INSTALLED THE VIS RACING DIFFUSER AND NOW I AM GOING TOWARDS PERFORMANCE MODS. NEW GOODIES COMING SOON. HERE ARE SOME PICS PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN OF THE CAR SINCE THE DIFFUSER HAS BEEN ON. I WILL DO A PHOTO SHOOT OF THE CAR TOMORROW OR THURSDAY

Nice write up. i especially like the black n white theme on the car. Wonder how it would look if those new wheels were black.
Any issue with cabin drone with just one mid muffler?

As far as the wheels go, I was thinking about going all black, gloss black with machined face, or just to sell these and buy a new set of wheels. Im not sure yet though.

it gets chipped up. But thats only because i was still going to captree and doing all the runs on the weekends. Murciealgo's and all 911's especially the gt3 are my worst enemy. Their tires kick up soo many rocks.
