caliper covers (revisited)

So I've been giving this a lot of thought - I want red calipers - however I don't want them painted.
In my opinion, even those that are sanded down and powered coated over time a black film builds up on them and makes them look dirty.
I therefore wanted to go with these:

either have "AMG" logo in white/black or "Mercedes" in white/black.
what do you guys think?
the OLD covers thread for reference

I think I'd rather deal with caliper paint that fades rather than attaching something to my caliper that if it comes loose, will do a lot of damage and compromise safety.

Please do not put that crap on a Mercedes they do not even look real.
Paint, or powder coat what you have. I had mine painted and they have held up great, and clean easily.

Good end decision, besides, we all know you were most likely three sheets to the wind when you posted that link
If you wash the calipers every so often they will stay very clean. I don't ever have to use wheel/brake cleaner on mine, just soap and water. If you neglect them and the build up stays on and gets baked over time, then they will look like hell.

I have no real problem with brake dust buildup on mine either. When I have the wheel off for other reasons, once or twice a year, I clean them with car wash shampoo, then ttreat them to a cleaner wax and use the same wax/sealer I use on the rest of the car. Thereafter, you will never have that "brake dust dirty" look, with just normal/routine cleaning. BTW Mine are the original with original paint. 07 clk550

what kind of rims do you have?? they look very similar to OEM SL 63 AMG rims (the way the rim becomes sharper towards the wheel - i think this is a discerning feature from the 'replicas' )

I gotta say, I've said it several times before and I'm obviously saying it again here : I love those wheels, they look absolutely stunning on his clean ride.
