Unhappy ...just a general rant

Hey guys & gals...

Just thought I'd share my tale of woes with y'all!

... up until last week, I had been enjoying my first 10 months of trouble-free motoring with my Sept 02 CLK240... I had none of the problems some of you guys have experienced... although I have to agree with those who've complained about the paintwork on the CLK chipping very easily - and I'm not talking about stone chipping on the front (my TT was much better in this respect).

Anyway, my car was happily parked outside my home, minding its own business when a "getaway" car crashed into it! The getaway car (an old beaten up Ford Escort) was involved in a minor spot of shoplifting (they got away with a few chicken breasts!... don't laugh. To make a long story short, they inflicted just over £7000 worth of damage to the car (rear axle, chasis, body panels, alloys, etc.) which is (unfortunately IMHO) not bad enough to have the car written off & it will be out of action for over 8 weeks

The insurance company is not being very helpful (so far) and the police have been useless... these guys have got away with ruining my car and there's really not a thing I can do about it.

Oh well, rant over...

Anyway... I'm enjoying this site and find you guys very helpful & knowledgeable... hopefully I'll be able to post more positive stuff in future.

Drive safely,
Derry

Sorry about all that, glad no one was hurt. If insurance co does not help it may be time to call a solicitor.

I heard about this conveinence store owner who was robbed by the same group of guys 3 different times, and finally took care of them in his own way. He happened to have a Hummer H1. The guys came in, took the money, he got in his H1 and took off after them. He caugh up to them and ran over their car, pinning them inside. They had to use the jaws to extract the guys from he car.

It's too bad you can't do the same to the guys that marred your beautiful car.

LOL (I'd really like to have seen that!)

Cheers guys... should find out tomorrow whether my insurance company are willing to stump up the full £7k for the repairs or whether they're going to contest the figures produced by the Merc dealer... hopefully, they'll just agree to the repairs so that the 8 weeks it's gonna take to fix will start sooner rather than later.

BTW... do you guys still have independent Merc dealers in the States (or elsewhere)? Last year in the UK, Mercedes bought back all dealerships in London, Manchester & Birmingham... and in one fell swoop removed any competition! (Still don't think this is a good idea from the consumer perspective but it appears that Mercedes was trying to pre-empt EU legislation which would allow virtually anybody to sell new Mercs - including supermarkets!!)

Anyways, take care,
Derry

Yes we do still have independent dealers...

As a matter of fact some of the Mercedes dealers sell other luxury brands such as BMW, Lexus, etc...

Its strange to hear some of the stuff going on in Europe. Dont let those Euro Trash take the British Pound away. If France had anything worthwhile we would take them over and sell them to China.

MB buyout

Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan, NY is the only dealer in the US owned wholly by Mercedes-Benz USA. All other dealers are privately held. Couldn't you imagine buying toilet tissue and a new MB at the same store? Crazy!!!!
