Depends on your driving style & environment for the most part, mostly highway miles - change them a lot less than mostly city clicks. The brake pads on my wife's C class last about 30,000km here in moderate/heavy Dubai traffic, not bad at all. The Akebono pads on my CLK lasted 7 laps...

OEM pads around 30K like Kev stated under normal operating conditions of course.

Entirely service dependent. Dealers are instructed to replace pads whenever they find that they won't last until the next service at present wear rates. Even in coutries like SA where Benz is footing the bill under Mobilodrive Plan.

For my 2004 CLK320, my Mercedes brake pads last 70K KM, about 3 years.

I just had my rears done at about 40K miles, rotors were within spec, so we just did pads. I would expect fronts to last about half of that under normal circumstances. I'd recommend factory pads - I had aftermarket pads (OEM replacement style, not a performance pad) installed by an indy, and they made a horrible squeaking noise that only OEM pads fixed.
