German engineering gone bad?

I didn't see any other threads relating so I thought I'd share...

... a while back I had to have my engine removed and dismantled because of a bad balance shaft. Since then a coolant hose has come off the engine twice. When this happens while on the highway.... lets just say it's not a pretty sight (lots of smoke, coolant out the front on your windshield, ect).

So I talked to someone that told me thats becuase Mercedes has their own engineered clip in style hoses instead of using a plain metal hose clamp like everyone else. Is this true? If so why would they change a good thing? Metal hose clamps are used on everything from cars to sinks, to washing machines, to dryer vent hoses. Did they think they were smarter than everyone else?

I'm hoping the dealership puts a clamp on to reinforce it this time.

they have been using the clip for years and years, if it is installed correctly no problems occur.
Get a new clip already.

Indeed. The Benz clips work perfectly. They are use once!

Waaaait a minute... Glyn they are a "use once" type of clip? Now I'm worried they reused all the clips they took off. I just got a call from the dealer.. so come to find out this wasn't the same clip that came off as last time. First it was a clip on the coolant line.. this time its a clip on a transmission fluid line. If they are a "one time use" kindof clip I'll call them back and scream

Our dealers in SA always replace them if they disturb them.
