Brabus Exhaust
Got a Brabus exhaust installed on my CLK500 a couple of days ago. Here are the before and after pics.
The Brabus exhaust fit perfectly on the stock bumper. The Brabus sales person was a little bummed that it fit so nicely. He couldn't find a reason to sell me his rear bumper.
When I first drove my car home, I was a little dissapointed. It sounded stock. No deep Barry White rumble. Then, about 20 minutes into my drive home, my exhaust decided to wake up. The sound got deeper as I drove.
The improvement in sound is a little better than stock, but I can't say by a lot. I don't think I want a louder exhaust, just a deeper sounding one. Maybe the sound is so deep, it's beyond my range of hearing. Those darn dogs must be getting an earful. haha
Honestly, it's not the deep hum you get when you fire up an M3.
I only got the exhaust and not the resonator. The Brabus guys admitted that the resonator wasn't worth the extra money and didn't improve the sound over the exhaust alone.
Anyone get the exhaust AND resonator? Did you notice a big difference?

ooh... i'm thinking it will set you back about at least 1G....
btw, momba, don't expect any exhaust to really provide any HP gains that are noticeable... anyone claiming like 10+ HP from an exhaust is just lying through their teeth..
i would assume most aftermarket exhausts only offer single digit gains... if any

Sure. I'll post a pic of the entire rear tonight.
I don't think there is any hp gain. It just sounds better.
The exhaust set me back $1,000. Still thinking about getting the Brabus resonator (for $700) though.

Don't forget that your exhaust will get louder after some mileage...
...as you've noticed already. Most aftermarket exhausts take a couple of thousand miles to reach their full volume. I had a 02 BMW M3 with a beautiful Racing Dynamics/RD Sport muffler. When it first started up, it was definitely louder, but not as much as I had suspected. After a few days worth of driving, it sounded perfect. After a couple thousand miles, it was getting just a llittle bit too loud. I traded it in shortly after that, so who knows how loud it is now? Anyway, give it a few days, and as far as looks goes, it looks awesome. I have to say that I like the stock CLK500 tailpipes more than the CLK55!
Best regards,
Matt

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know it would get louder over several thousand miles. I'll wait before I decide to get the resonator.
Hear are some pics of the whole rear. I don't have a side shot but I do have a top view.
Before shot (my wife says it looks like an anus)

I like what you did with the Brabus exhausts on your CLK. I hadn't thought of doing it, but after seeing your pics, I must have the duels. My CLK 500 Cab. just arrived at my dealers this afternoon. I plan to pick it up on next Monday.
