Need Help on Muffler Size
Hi everyone, i hope that this topic hasnt been killed to death, because i found tons of threads but not exactly what i was looking for.
Im finally doing my exhaust, im doing an xpipe with a borla or magnaflow muffler. I want to use only one muffler dual in dual out. What i need to know is the size of muffler i need to order, or part number? Cant really find a decent shop either, anyone know a good place? I live in LA.
thanks guys in advanced

PM Carlos (2MCHCAR), he's using a dual/dual Borla and had it done in the LA area IIRC.

My new exhaust project (being worked on now at Forum Sponsor ACGSD) is using a Borla Muffler 2.5" dual in/out part number #400286. This muffler is "Xed" internally BTW. If you want a good place in LA, try Pepe at High Flow Mufflers in Long Beach,Ca (562) 591-2280. You can call for an appointment and he's pretty accommodating! I gave him a weeks lead time and he fit me in no problem (if you go, tell him his friends in MBworld say hi).

went to a couple muffler shops today... none of them recommended an xpipe since im only putting one muffler. Is this true? even though the muffler is dual in dual out the xpipe wont make a difference?
So one of the shops reccomended removing secondary cats and having a 3 inch pipe to the muffler, then the other said just strait pipe it. Im comnfused now and dont know what to do :/

no quad i just wanted both pipes from the xpipe to go directly to my muffler, but the shop said it would be better to have one big pipe going to the exhaust. Just want some performance gains with deeper tone,

LOL i'm confused. The borla dual in/out already has an internal x pipe, so you wouldn't need that muffler + an x-pipe, just that muffler. You could always keep your stock exhaust and remove the secondaries or remove the muffler(i think that's what the guy meant by straight pipe).

An X-pipe is used to balance the pressures between the two runs/cylinder banks - a single chamber muffler (dual/dual) does the same thing. You don't need an X-pipe since you're only using one muffler.
Dual run/dual muffler systems like what Andy & Wes have benefit from an X-pipe for the reasons mentioned above.
