Did you change out the wear sensor as well? They can be a little sensitive at times. A cheap part to replace.

The brake sensors are designed to be replaced not reset. basically, the sensor is designed so that when the metal wire in the sensor comes into contact with the rotor face, the brake wear circuit is then completed. thus, the system trips the light or (as in your case) shows a message on the info display.

Mike is right - there is no reset, you have to change the sensors. The older one-wire style would stop alerting you once it was installed in a thicker pad so it didn't ground out with contact to the rotor. The newer two-wire style (like on your CLK350) is a loop that will alert you when either it grounds out or the loop is broken. If it's worn enough to break the loop, then you have to replace it.

So it sounds like it shouldn't matter how well you embed the sensor in the pad, as long as the wires are good and it's plugged in properly, there should be no message. I redid the front brakes on my CLK350 and when I was done and started it up, I got the brake wear message. I didn't have the message to begin with (pads weren't worn that far) but I still used a new sensor. I revisited it, tried to tap the pin into the pad harder (broke some of the plastic *doh!*) and unplugged and re plugged the connector. Turned the key to run position (no start) and didn't see a message. Not sure what else it could be if that doesn't solve it. A defective sensor??? So annoying...

A bad sensor could have the circuit loop broken.

clk500
Just changed all rotors and front pads which i had ordered a new sensor for the front
and the brake warning was still coming up
it ended up the rear sensor had failed when i removed the pads
the test is with a multimeter on ohms setting and the sensor should read 000 over the 2 plug in pins
as i didnt have a spare sensor i cut the sensor part off stripped the wires back and soldered them together and that completed the circuit until i get a new one Regards Pete
