fitting new wheels
the wheels rub against the strut. I was wondering if there is a way to make the wheels fit? Or will these not work without changing the suspension?
I believe the CLS with 19's run a 255 front, and 285 rear which neither size is suitable for a CLK. Your best bet is to go another route unfortunately.

A 275 with custom made wheels and perfect offsets has been proven to work without issue.

Confirm the wheel offsets will in fact work on the CLK front and rear. I know for a fact that a 235/35/19 on an 8.5 wheel with and et32 is within a couple mm's of rubbing the front strut tube, not to be confused with what you experienced with the spring perch.
A 265 rear is the preferred size. And offsets anywhere from 40-25 will work safely on a 9.5" wheel. Good luck with it.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but those wheels will never be right for the car.
Your best bet would be to sell that setup and get a set of wheels that properly fit your car. You are driving a MB...
When I said ride quality issues... I mean you will have to run way to much spacer.. You will run into balancing issues. To make the set up work you are going to have to run very odd tire sizes not reccomended for the car.
Of all the mods you must get right, wheel tire combo is most important... It is going to drive you

CRAZY and cost a small fortune to keep tweaking the set up to force it to work. You have a chance to do it right the 1st time.... why fight it
Good luck!
fusion, its really not worth the trouble you are going through. Just trying to help. Take no offense.

these new wheels are heavier then the stock amy wheels, and will probably slow me down some.lol

or 235-35-18? is the only option?
