Clk 350 problem

Has anyone had the faulty timing chain gear? I have a v6 clk 350 with 78000klms , the engine light has come on intermittently and each time I took it to dealer was fobbed off as no problem found - maybe it spark plugs fuel etc. I believe the problem is the faulty part known to Mercedes

It is a known issue with 2006 vehicles. The dealer ought to know what is going on. There is a recall. Look at the forum stickies. In fact, there are class actions on 2006 models.

Inside this forum, close to the top, you will find a thread called "M272 Engines"... Read that. I know that you didn't realize, but it's unfortunate that you ended up with a 2006 model 350.

Try getting a goodwill repair from Mercedes even though you are out of warranty. Be nice but persistent.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Find out what the error codes are. The balance shaft/timing gear problem will present DTCs 1200 and 1208 (corresponding to OBDII codes P0017 and P0016). If that's what you have, then you have the balance shaft failure. If not, then it's not related to the balance shaft.
