2006 CLK350 Dumb me
(yes I think they made them)
1.) Metal shavings in my engine (there are pictures floating around where the teeth are completely gone from the sprocket, one is in the TSB), and
2.) The timing chain falling off or skipping time on the crank or cam sprockets while the engine is running.
As for the timing chain falling off or skipping, I don't see this. As long as the main crank sprocket and cam sprockets are solid, and there is some part of the idler sprocket for the chain to ride on, it can't get too far out of time - just by the shrinking diameter of that idler. Of course on the V6, if the idler sprocket goes completely, then the balance shaft would skip or stop rotating and that could cause all sorts of vibration problems.
It is shifting too loud and too hard from reverse.
My car does have the drain plug, correct?

Yours probably has a torque converter drain. If not, then change what you can, then do two more changes over 60 days and you'll be pretty close to getting it all fresh. You can use an infrared thermometer aimed right at the pan to check the temperature.
I recently bought a 2006 CLK350 Cabriolet and did some research which stated there is problems with the balance shaft and steel gear wearing out. My CLK350 has almost 140000 miles with no check engine light and I had it scanned today which showed no codes..The care runs fine and hopefully either the repairs for this issue were already done or there was never a problem to begin with.
