FS: Does anyone need a Schatz burl wood armrest cover?

I got this a couple of weeks ago, love it, even my local MB dealer said he'd never seen a burl wood armrest cover on a CLK -- but now I don't want it and willing to let it go cheap -- 70 dollars plus shipping.

I'm pretty sure this is only for the 2003-2006 CLK55/320/350/500 armrests, the kind that tip open to one side, not the open in the middle kind.

Jerry at formymercedes.com (great seller, great merchandise give him a call!) gave me some extra 3M double sticky tape and I'll include that because the existing tape is now off.

But the burl itself is in great shape, excellent finish on this product, absolutely glows!

You "love it" but don't want it after two weeks? Seems kinda Kardashian of you. What year is your car? Weird, but it looks like a pre-facelift armrest but post facelift center console.

I think that's exactly what I have -- pre facelift armrest but post facelift console -- Car is an 06, but built in August 05. I probably got the last old style armrest and have no place to put my coffee cup!

I just looked - they did use that armrest through 2006. So it won't fit any CLK after that.

Yep, the roller-top style center armrest cover was introduced after the MY2005 facelift. I am not sure if it was the case with the W209, but I know they changed the W211 E-class cover mid-run for MY2005. The early MY2005 E's had the old style armrest, then the later ones, delivered starting in Nov. 2004 started showing up with the rollers. I don't think that happened with the CLKs - I think they had an even cutoff with MY2006 for that style armrest.

I'm used to the old style armrest from my C230k Coupe 04.

Is there any benefit to the newer armrest, besides the cupholder?

IMHO, the only benefit is the cupholder (and the second cupholder under the armrest cover). The new design offers less storage (though partly because of the cup holders) and the roller blind is not as comfortable for an armrest as the padded cover. But it does look more "updated". Ironically, the old, slightly deeper and larger storage bin is still there - I took my center console apart and found that underneath the smaller cubby, there is the larger felt-lined cubby of the old style. I was actually trying to figure out a way to remove the inner trim from my smaller cubby (and that 2nd inner cupholder) for more storage, but I couldn't see a clean way to make it work.

Interesting. Also the older style is lockable for valuables.

I like the older style better too, but it's an unwritten rule that you can't "mod backwards" lol. I've got the tambour door in my 2006, build date 4/11/2006.

I like certain things about both. In my opinion...

The pros of the newer one:
-Looks a lot better
-Cup Holder
-More durable (2 out of 3 preface lift CLK's I looked at the center console was broken)

The Cons of the newer one:
-Less space
-Less comfortable if you rest your hand on the gear knob to slap shift

I personally would rather have the newer one because of the looks as I don't like to store too much in my car. I think the main reason they changed it was because of how many broke because the new set up is very simple compared to the old one but thats just my opinion who really knows.

Do you still have it? If so, I'm interested.
