need help with changing low beam halogen headlight bulb

I have a 2003 CLK500 and am having trouble removing the bad bulb. I've removed the cover and have the bulb assembly out of the headlight, just cannot get the bulb itself out of the assembly. Manual says to push backward and turn counter clockwise. What exactly is it that I'm supposed to push backward? I don't want to break the bulb, and nothing I've tried turning is moving at all. Please help so I can get the new bulb installed.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Push "in" on the bulb (i.e. deeper into the headlight socket) and the rotate counter-clockwise.
