How much for a 2004 CLK500?
Planing buy a 2004, or 2003, CLK500 (Silver) at the dealer with the following options:
K3, K4, Command, Electronic Trunk Closer (minus this if 2003), CD Changer, and Keyless Go.
I see that some members are paying less than MSRP, like $1500. Will the dealer go for $59,000? Is that asking too little?

$4020 off MSRP! That is more than I expected. I'm going in on Monday to take a look the new models. Now, I'm expecting a lot off. Going to MB of Orlando.

Total was $4020 off MSRP. Dealer gave me $3300 off sticker but sticker did not include the $720 destination as it was a European delivery the dealer does where they ship it right from the factory to the dealer. Had 38 miles on it as it was test drove by buyers before me. Most have 20+ from the factory. My dealer in Sarasota is great, great service & my salesman was fantastic. Also bought an SLK from him before the CLK.

Okay, it now look like I should be asking less than $58K with all the options listed above -- including the Trunk Closer. He has already approved me of any model Benz on the lot. The CLK would just be perfect for me. Should I tell the dealer $58K, or there is no point continuing? If he's not willing to work with me then maybe I should get it from leggs' dealer.
The current MSRP is for a 2004 CLK 500 Coupe is $53,520 (according to their website).

Going in tomorrow for a test drive. While there I might as well talk about the price. As for me, I will buy it from any dealer who is willing to sell me the 2004 CLK500 for $3K+ below MSRP.

Air, where have you looked in Northern California? I am also starting to look for a CLK. Mostly, I will be checking out the dealers in Sacramento and the Bay Area. My understanding is you can pick up a CLK below the MSRP.

Some Bay Area dealers
are willing to go below MSRP on the CLKs but others are not. Same story in SoCal. For some reason, they are willing to give a bigger discount on the 500. Autobahn, Mercedes of SF, and the one at Steven Creek are willing to deal. When I was buying, the discount quoted was for both a 03 or 04 CLK320 (if I had to order one). There was no difference, in terms of discount, between the model years. Email me if you need recommendations.

Thanks for the info DCCLK. I'm going to take a look at Autobahn next. I've talked to Smythe European, Claridge Ltd and Beshoff. They were dealing at MSRP, but I didn't push hard for a lower price because I was still in "research mode."
DCCLK, how much of a discount below MSRP were you referring to for the CLK320?

Hey Air!
I got $1750 off MSRP plus a really good financing rate. Probably could round it up to $2000 but I was happy enough. It was the way I really wanted it (color & options) plus I do not have to wait. Also, the people I dealt with in both dealerships were really nice. It is obvious that I didn't do any homework before but the sales guy at Smythe did not try to take me to the cleaners
Basically, I was about to purchase a Z4 the same day till 24 hour before, my coworker showed me a picture of the CLK320 and that was it. Essentially, I did not do any homework and went to Benz of SF and then Smythe. Placed an order with Smythe. But due to a screw up, I had to purchase it from Autobahn. Long story, won't bore everyone with it.
I find that dealing with the right sales people are paramount to getting a discount. If you like, email me and I can point you to the sales people. I am no way related to or even know this guys beforehand
I was lucky. Also, though it was a screw up at Smythe, the guy did do good by me but like I said before, did not want to wait. Autobahn had the exact combination plus more (black on black, K3, K4, Appearence, CD, Nav). I didn't want the Nav but what the heck, they match the deal and I took it.

Remember that European Delivery (Coupes only, no Cabs) saves you 5% off the base MSRP, has no destination charge, and doesn't come out of dealer allocation, so the dealer won't lose the chance to profit on cars in their allocation. It also comes with one hotel night. The main disadvantages are the time it take you to get your car (shipped from Europe), the cost of getting to Stuttgart, and you have to pay for your car while your car is on the water.
