My Matte Black CLK 500

Just got it done this weekend.

I like the flat black look but I am glad that it is reversible as I love the original white color

how?

looks great and i suspect it is cheaper than wrapping

how is this procedure done?
what about the jams and other less accessible spots?
can any blems simply be sprayed over?

Don't you picture an Evil Super Villian, in his giant underground lair which is built in a hollowed out volcano. With a sinister laugh you see the CLK hung down by a chain, being lowered down into a massive vat of bubbling plasti dip...

then of course it is pulled out to perfection

Looks great OP! Typically most matte black jobs make me cringe but this is very very nice! Would love to see more pictures.

3 gallons of plastidip and a professional paint sprayer. It is not that hard, just need to make sure the car is nice and clean and spray on ! I sprayed over the tailights and headlights and just peeled it off later.

Wow looks good.
I had no idea you could shoot plasti-dip thorugh a paint gun.
Cheaper than wrap for sure.

I'm matte as well. Really brings out the lines of the clk IMHO.

What do these plasti-dipped cars look like close up? If this was not your car, and you had never heard of plasti-dip, and you came across it one day, what would you think? Would you conclude it was paint?

Honestly, people ask me if I painted the car, or if I have it sanded down for paint. People act surprised and in disbelief when I tell them that it is removable and has 0 effect on paint.
Definitely a head turner wherever I go.

If done right , I don't think you can tell the difference between the car being wrapped or dipped. It is extremely durable and is pressure cleaner proof.

You could on some areas but when you are taking about the whole car itself, you need a gun sprayer

I think to pull off the matte black paint you would have needed some serious wheels to set it off. It would have looked amazing in that paint when its lowered, maybe a front lip and some serious wheels.

I agree about the rims , but I've been told the coil over drop for my car is less than 2 inches ? Not sure if this is true or not but not worth 2k

Car looks better in white IMO. I have Tein Coilovers on my car and I am lowered 2.25" in the front and almost 3" in the rear on staggered 19's no fender mods and no rubbing. Worth every penny, and good call on deleting the other thread.

It looks soooo much better. Although it had to be ruff ripping it all off. Its always hard for me mentally to rip it off and Im talking about small stuff like the grill. hahaha

I do have a few things matte blacked on my CLK. I will say It took me a very long time to find things that I actually liked matte blacked because the white is beautiful. If you want some ideas for a few little things check my build thread out.
