TouchShift Problems CLK500
TouchShift Problems CLK500
Hello Everyone,
My 05 CLK500 has the tocushift (where you can manually shift using the shift knob). I know that you can engage it by using either the paddles or the shift knob; my paddle shifters work both left and right, but on my shift knob the downshift doesn't work, only the upshift works. So it's kind of annoying to upshift using the shift knob and downshift with the paddle lol. Any help is appreciated.

Either a wire off or more likely one of the micro switches on the shift lever is gummed up or defective. You will have to pull the shifter to check it.
Good luck!
Good luck!
The TouchShift in my ML did this. I disassembled it and found the dirty contacts. The CLK's is not exactly the same, but this may help:

I think I'll live with this because that looks like too much work and I am a newbie to Merc...or if there are other ways?

The minimum you have to achieve is to strip far enough to be able to give the contacts a squirt with CRC Contact cleaner or similar.
