Can anyone advise a good OBD-11 scanner to buy to suit a 2002 - 320 CLK

 

Any generic OBDII tool form $20 and up can read the ECU and return the standard "P" codes. There are a few aftermarket scanners that can read other systems (TCU, ABS, SRS, etc.) but if you were going to spend that kind of money, you might as well get SDS. You can buy a Chinese hacked/clone version on eBay for $500-$700. It can do everything as it is the dealer diagnostic system.

The AUTEL MaxiScan MS309

and the Equus Innova 3130b are two favourites on this board & never give trouble on Benz vehicles.

 

I have an Equus Innova 1003. Less expensive that then 3130, it still provides access to Equus on-line diagnostics. As Rudeney pointed out above, these tools only retrieve engine and emissions related codes and don't access codes for SRS, ESP etc.

 

togaclk55 linked the $20 Autel MaxiScan MS300; does the MaxiScan MS309, Equus Innova 3130b or Equus Innova 1003 do anything the $20 Autel MaxiScan MS300 doesn't?

 

Yes. Things like scanning live data etc can't be done by the baby models. For most, however, a baby in the glove box is all you need. Always buy one which tells you what the code means. Having to look them up is a cramp. The baby Autels do tell you what the code means.
