Thoughts on 3rd Party Extended Warranty
I recently bought a 2009 clk550 with roughly 39k miles on it. I have about 3 months remaining on my bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty from mercedes. I got a quote from Travis from Mercedes Benz of Elmbrook for a 4 year warranty worth about $3k. I've done research and it's a trusted 3rd party and my dealer will accept it as long as they pay.
I've gone back and forward with this and a large part of me wants to pocket the 3k and set it aside for a major repair while I just pay for maintenance. My last car (06 Acura TL) had issues. Bought it at 60k miles and by 73k miles i had to replace the transmission. Also turns out that it was in an accident that wasn't reported when i went to do some body work on it for mods.
So now you know my situation. What do you think I should do? Logic tells me to forgo the warranty but fear tells me to purchase it just to be safe.
