Finally the clk threw a code

Unfortunately only in german, hope our mbworld gurus can help to sort it out!

Code we got was:

ME.9.7 OBD

Code: 630

Einlass- Nockenwellenposition Bank 2

- Übermässige frühverstellung/ funktion fehlerhaft.

Then there were two parameters for the left and right camshaft

One Parameter said 1.0 and the other said 1.7

Code cant be cleared

Does not appear in cluster only when eading over OBD.

Thanks a bunch!

This is just a generic misfire code. It should clear, unless you are having some serious engine problems and it just keeps coming back. Are you using SDS to pull codes?

No, I didnt had SDS...havent got a clue what kind of diagnose system it was what Im sure of is that it definately wasnt star.

I hate that the car doesnt start properly... I just hate that.. so annoying and sometimes embarrassing.

So other than the error code, what are the symptoms?

Like I mentioned before in other threads, slight shaking ( wich you allready told me its the normal V8 behavior ) and the not-at-first-time-cranking issue.

Its like you have to sit in the car till verything got set, Seatbelt, some other noises from the fuelpump and whatever, THEN you slowly count to ten AND THEN she starts up like a dream otherwise shell crank hard....well sometimes.... Really dont know what the issue could be....

AGR?

MAF?

Crankshaft Position sensor?

Rest of the car is cool, good acceleration, great response even in C.

BTW whats the normal fuel consumption of the CLK 550?
I cant get it under 10.8 L no matter how hard I try, eventhough I would say, its pretty good considering a 5.5 L engine...

When Im back at home I will load up two vids:

First time cranking in the morning and first time cranking in the evening ( after work )...this time I dont care if I get embarrassed infront of my coworkers ...Im gonna just crank the car fast up...without waiting ...

"crank hard" as in it takes many engine revolutions before it fires, or the engine rotates slowly? If it's the former, then that could be CPS or a weak fuel pump. The latter is probably battery (or less likely the starter).

So you mean minor lill things need to get done....and its a keeper?

Fuelpump is in great working condition prooved by mech. He checked it.

CPS or batt.

Battery is from day one, so we might got the troublemaker :-)

Thank you Rodney!

I don't think this is a major problem. And since your M273 engine is beyond the "balance shaft" problem range, I'd say it's a keeper.
