P0453 code
Hi Guys,
I have a p0453 code which is emissions evap system "high". I have done some reading with a few people saying that the charcoal canister should be checked for blockage. However, I haven't been able to find the location of the canister. Does anyone know the location?
Also, could this code be something besides canister? Would it affect performance of vehicle?

Diagrams of the entire EECS circuit are in the Wiki. Check fuel cap, canister for saturation, leaking joints & check filler pipe for cracks.
If all fails then have the system smoke tested.

P0453 indicates two DTCs:
P201C - [1] B4/3 (Fuel tank pressure sensor) : Short circuit to positive (P0453)
P201C - [4] B4/3 (Fuel tank pressure sensor) : Open circuit (P0453)
These are both related to fuel tank pressure. First, There are specific tests in SDS for this that check components like the charcoal canister shut-off valve, the fuel tank pressure sensor, the purge control valve, and the purge system. SDS has specific tests that can actuate and test the individual components to pinpoint the trouble. Without that, the only thing I would do is check the gas cap. If it's on tight, then get a new seal for it. If that doesn't do it, then you really need to get it hooked up to SDS for proper diagnosis.
BTW, the charcoal canister is behind the left rear wheel fender shroud.
