TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ISSUES - CLK500

Hello everyone,

I have owned my MB for 1 year now.

Bought the car from a used car dealership down here in MIA. The car has been great but one night I went out and as I was driving I stopped at a red light and I quickly noticed that when the light turned green and I released the brake pedal, the car did not move as it would. I started accelerating and it did not change gears. I stopped at a gas station and turned off the car. When I turned the car back on the check engine light turned on and when I shifted gears (Park - Drive or vice versa) I would feel the transmission kicking very hard.

I took the car to the dealer which I bought it from and they told me they would take care of the issue. More than 2 months later now and I am still with a loaner vehicle.

The dealer / mechanics told me that the problem is the valve body... I have done some research and I have read some horrible stories. What I want to know is can this issue be fixed at a private shop and not MB ? as per my understanding, only Mercedes Benz can program the transmission however, when I called on Friday they told me that the car will be ready this coming up week and that they ARE ABLE to program the transmission now - also I would like to know if anyone had the same problem twice, or what was the outcome after it was fixed... I would hate to have this issue again.

Checking with car fax - there is a service record in 07 and it states that the transmission was reprogrammed.. can't believe that after 2 years it would have some transmission related problem.

Anyway, thanks for the feed back I really appreciate it !

As your vehicle is at the changeover point do you have a 7 speed transmission? The vehicle is in limp mode.

If so the likely trouble is the Siemens valve body conductor plate which usually displays as a speed turbine sensor fault. On older transmissions this requires replacement of the valve body. On newer transmissions they can just swap out the conductor plate & cross flash the valve body flow calibration to the new TCU from the old one.

Good luck!
