Canbus Ballast still flickering?

I just received my HID kit from Retrofit Source which consists of H7 4300K bulbs, Ballast, and Canbus harness. I installed them and thought everything was good. Turns out that if I turn the headlights on first and then the car everything is functions as it should. If I turn the car on first then the headlights I get warnings and flickering lights.

Is this normal : ?

Anything I can do to remedy the issue?

Not what I expected from a 150 kit with great reviews

The only difference with the engine running is that the alternator would be putting about 2 volts more compared to the vehicle battery. The "CANBUS" canceller works by using a resistor to emulate the wattage draw of a halogen bulb. Those resistors get very hot, so I am sure they use the smallest resistor they can get by with. What may be happening is that your alternator may be putting out just a little more voltage than expected, so changes the output of the circuit with the resistor and thus the SAM sees this incorrect current draw as a bad bulb. Check the voltage with the engine running - it should be around 14v.

Thanks for the reply Rudeney. I check with my meter and it looks like with the engine off I see 12.5. With engine running is 14.7. Is there anything else I can do before the new canbus harness gets here?

Thanks

14.7 sounds a little high, but probably not enough to be an issue. My guess is that you have a bad resistor in the harness, hopefully the new one will fix it.

So I got the harnesses and still the same problem

Rudeney, what's positive and negative on the headlight bulb plug? One side is 1 yellow wire and the other side has 2 blacks wires.

Thanks!

Sorry - I don't know off hand, but I thought the connector had four leads. I still think the issue is a bad resistor in the "CANBUS" corrector.
