Hello everyone, my 2005 CLK500 has recently had some issues with its transmission. I leave my car in 'S' mode, where it starts out in 1st gear. When the car is about to upshift from 1st to 2nd, there is a slight jerk immediately before the car shifts. There is that same jerk when it upshifts from 2nd to 3rd but it is not as bad as 1st to 2nd. Is there a way to fix this 'DIY' style, or do I have to take it to a mechanic? All help is appreciated!!

You have an early version of the 722.9 transmission. Those were known to be more problematic, but yours may be something simple. The most common cause of this is low transmission fluid. Do you have nay leaks? Also, you should have had a fluid and filter flush at 39K miles - did you do that? The fluid and filter change (even checking the fluid level) is not an easy DIY, but some of us have done it. Check the sticky above for the details. If this doesn't seem to be something you want to tackle yourself, then have the dealer do it, and while you're in there, get them to update the TCU code. My CLK550 was really doing some odd/harsh shifts, and after having the dealer flash it with the latest code, it really smoothed out.
