Aftermarket Warranty Cost (CLK550)
I just discovered the CLK550 I just purchased is within the timing gear affected range, and it has me thinking aftermarket warranty.
How many of you have aftermarket warranties, what did you pay, what company, and what does it cover?
Curious to see what everyone wound up with.

As a potential CLK550 owner - I am in the early stages of looking, I have been inquiring to various third party warranty companies. I entered "Mercedes extended warranty" in bing and then contacted the BBB A rated companies. While I do not remember who it as but they contacted me (actually they all did) asking for VIN, which of course I do not have. The best price I was offered so far was $5250 for a 5/100k. Time is more important to me than mileage. They started an $5600 and before we were done talking the CSR had all ready knocked of $400. Then they offered a pay over time option - about $280 for two years - obviously you can do the math as well as me. But I am really leaning towards finding a CPO vehicle so I can buy a two year warranty at time of purchase to get a total of three years Mercedes coverage. From what I have read, issues start about two years after OEM warranty expires.

I would not buy a 3rd party warranty unless it was either sold through a local dealer, or I had a bunch of folks here recommending it. There are just too many companies out there scamming people on these things.

All I can tell you is that is what the quote was, but it is for a five year plan FWIW. Really looking forward to the drive to Joplin to see the CPO 550 and then hearing what MB wants for their two year ESP, LOL.
