Rattling by Rear Passenger Passenger Wheel Well

I have an interesting issue in my new CLK550 I'm hoping someone has a solution to. While stopped/parked and idling I hear this constant rhythmic rattling noise that seems to originate in the rear of the car, loudest while listening by the rear passenger wheel well. Any clues?

It could be a loose heat shield around the exhaust or some other loose underbody paneling. If you can hear it in the cabin, around the back seat cushion, it could be the fuel pump (but it tends to make more of a ticking rather than a rattle, and that would be normal).

I can hear it more faintly from inside too. It is actually more of a ticking than a metallic rattle. At speed it goes away, bumps don't make it rattle, revving the motor a bit doesn't change, just a constant tack-tack-tack-tack-tack...

That could be the fuel pump. I often hear mine tapping as I come to a stop, but onyl as I slow. Once I stop, it quiets down.
