Question, when is it time to change the MAF and not just clean it?
If the hesitation is sticking around after 5 times of cleaning, it's time to get one now!

I cleaned mine today and so far so good. If the hesitation at idle comes back, am ordering a new Bosch one off amazon for $100.

$100? That is really cheap. The part number I'm looking for is 2730940948. I looked it up on amazon and I did find a part priced $97 but I highly doubt it is the right one.

I also found one that was $188 which was for Chrysler dodge as well as mercedes.

Anyone know if this will work correctly in my car?

This is the one for my car:
Amazon.com: Bosch 0280217515 Air Mass Sensor: Automotive Amazon.com: Bosch 0280217515 Air Mass Sensor: Automotive

It's a 2003 CLK320.

The Bosch part number and the Mercedes part numbers differ, but that is the one for sure.

Shouldn't a dirty MAF throw a code? There was always MAF-cleaning talk on the 202 forum, but I've spent more money on so many things: buy a new MAF.

MAF's seldom throw codes. Sometimes a "fuel trim" code.

I would wait until symptoms arrive before I change it.

Just curious, I called my local MB dealership and the MAF sensor costs $650CAN. I then checked my invoice and it was $450CAN back in May-2008. I did not pay this invoice because it was covered under warranty.

The Bosch OEM parts costs $144US in Autohausaz. I wonder if this OEM and MB OE parts share the same specs. If they are the same, we are paying $500 more just for the MB packaging?

That's why the are called Stealerships.

Here is the OEM part, which is a Bosch part, from Amazon for $107:
Amazon.com: Bosch 0280217515 Air Mass Sensor: Automotive Amazon.com: Bosch 0280217515 Air Mass Sensor: Automotive

I was going to buy it, but I cleaned the MAF and the idling problem is gone. It cost me $8 for the MAF cleaner from Canadian Tire.

I had a discussion with the parts guy in the dealership.

He told me OEM did not mean it's the same MB parts. These OEM parts may fit the car but they may not perform as well as the MB parts. MB gives stringent specs to the manufacturers for their parts and there is no guarantee that these OEM parts follow these specs.

With all due respect to the "parts guy", but what he said is complete bull!

My car still has the original MAF sensor from the factory and when I took it out to clean, it is a Bosch part with the same part number as the one I linked on Amazon. Same part number, same product.

There is no MB MAF sensor and a Bosch OEM one. The Bosch one is what comes fitted from the factory.

The "parts guy" is just trying to make more money off of you. Don't fall for it.

Good to know. When I need to replace my MAF later, I will not buy from MB.

Because of the part number, we can tell the MB-MAF and Amazon-MAF are the same. This exercise is a bit more challenging for other parts. For instance, OEM air filters for MB is Mann and I myself have been using Mann filter in my car for 2 years. While MB-filter ($71CAN) and Mann-filter ($22US) look the same, I cannot tell if their specs are the same.

To give more details, the MAF I took out from the car had both the MB part number and the Bosch part number on it. The one from Amazon only has the Bosch part number on it, but it matches so it is for sure what you are looking for.

As for the filter, what you say is rather intruiging as I just checked the parts on autohauz and correct, there is quite the price difference.

Check this out though: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w209...filter-my.html

Also use rmeuropean.com for prices/parts numbers. Parts.com too.
