Are your new wheels lighter than the oem wheels? You put on 18 inch wheels on a car designed for 17 inch wheels. If you increased the tire width, it becomes even heavier. Unless you bought some light wheels, why wouldn't the car "feel heavier?"

If the tyre width has increased everything you are seeing/feeling is normal ^ +1.

Other than rolling resistance, wider front tyres have a remarkably negative effect on the aerodynamic cd of the car thus increasing fuel consumption.

When manufactuer's state the cd of a specific design it is always done on the base model with the skinniest tyres.

wider tires and wheels but over all much lighter they are 3 piece wheels 18"x 9.5" rear
18"x 8.5" front inch larger than stock and spacer. Same height as stock wheel and tires
just wider

your reply sound reasonable but it is considerable difference. My background is in muscle cars
never dealt with low profile tires and such just horsepower

It's a beautiful car. Those are beautiful wheels that look great. I'm sure the 3-piece wheels are lighter than stock at the same size. One for one, stock wheels and stock tires vs. larger wheels and wider tires, is the new setp up lighter? That is the question.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Another negative effect of wider tires that people don't think about is that while the contact patch with the road is wider, it is much shorter longitudinally (front to back). Wile a wider contact patch helps with cornering, the shorter contact patch hurts straight traction, especially with wet starts and braking.

Correct ~ there is a specific weight per contact patch ratio that is desireable. Wider is not always better.
