CLK 200 Kompressor
Service interval
Hi All,
I have an 09 registered CLK 200 Kompressor which I bought about 2.5 months ago. It had done 26,000 miles and the service interval message was <A service in 7,000 miles>. I have now driven about 1,500 miles and today the interval changed from 6,000 miles to 28 days.
Service history:
25/3/12 A service
27/9/12 brake pads & sensors
29/7/13, RAC presales check, brake pads & discs replaced.
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Rob

The service interval is based on mileage or time. If you don't drive that much, it will always tell you service is due before the mileage is up. I think the service interval on mine is 13,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. You don't want to drive around with really old oil even if it doesn't have that many miles on it.

But if the last service it had was an A service, then the indicator should say it's due for B service, not A. So I'm guessing whoever did it didn't reset the indicator. Like many on here, I ignore my indicator and just reset it whenever it comes on. I change my own oil when I think it needs it regardless of what the car thinks, and I'd never pay a dealer to do all the other simple A and B service checks they charge an arm and a leg for. It's just a big profit center for them.

The services generally alternate between A and B. There is not really any difference in them. They are both basically an oil change and some inspections and checks, the B service having a longer list of those checks. There are additional service items that may or may not coincide with the A/B interval, such as the 39K mile transmission service, spark plug changes, coolant and brake fluid changes. Check the maintenance manual for details (you can get a PDF copy in the Owner's section of mbusa.com).
As for this nbeign an A service, it;s entirely normal given the low miles and age in years - assuming the car has been on the road for over four years, it should have already had A-B-A-B and now is due for A.
