04 CLK 500 phone interface
Newbie here! Just got my first MB CABRIOLET and I love it so much the wife is jealus
I know there are threads about this out there but I'm REALLY confused on what I need to integrate my iPhone 5 to car and use steering wheel controls. Car doesn't have navi, BT, or command - just am/fm and cd changer. I've been told it needs everything from $2500 wire harness and kit to a $500 puck?
Anyone out there that can point me in the right direction?
FYI- Might be looking to replace head unit w Alpine deck but still want SWC if possible.

Replace the head unit with a modern aftermarket unit that has the features you want. My advice for a "cleaner" look is to go with a double-DIN touchscreen. It won't look 100% factory, but it will look more at home than a single-DIN unit.

Just upgrade to an aftermarket unit. The stock units are junk by today's standards anyway. Get something android based that does everything, from going online to reading your text messages out loud for you and leave the 80's push buttons and knobs to the stock crowd

Sooo Megacrazy - not that it matters but i am looking at the Alpine CDE-HD149BT which does everything but microwave your pizza. however im told i still wont be able to use steering wheel controls for answering and calling out.... true?
MB shows a BT cradle adapter availabel - any idea if that would work here?

False. I got a kenwood dnn990hd in my car and the steering wheel controls work fine in conjunction with PAC adapters. It can be a bit of a process based on what your car comes with...but in the end it's just basic stereo work.

Mega's right. Many have Alpine decks and the steering wheel controls work. Here is an install procedure.
