CLK Speaker Upgrade

Is it possible to swap out my stock Bose speakers for updated Harmon Kardon ones? Ive got the standard headunit with the 6 disc cd changer in the trunk

would the sound system sound better?

Would i need to swap out the stock Bose amp with a Harmon Kardon amp?

Would i be able to add the Bose subwoofer in between the rear seats?

thanks

My advice would be to swap it for a good aftermarket system. For the same price of OEM HK parts, you could build a really nice "modern" aftermarket system

Thanks for the reply....ive done that in a previous vehicle, but it was alot of work, and the cost just kept adding up. I like keeping it as factory looking as possible, and not thrilled with having to run all new wiring. Just looking for a fairly simple swap. Plus I could buy all the factory components fairly cheap at my local junkyard. Im just curious if i could just swap out the components and if indeed it would sound better

Not worth the expence because there is not lot of diffrence in the HK and the bose sound. In my opinon save the money.

You'd have to run a lot more complex wiring to switch from Bose to HK because of the fiber - the Bose used the older D2B fiber system and the HK uses the newer MOST fiber network. If you go aftermarket, all you have to do is run new speaker or pre-amp wiring from the dash to the trunk to bypass the fiber. It's not that hard at all if you have skills in such things. You'd probably spend well over $2K trying to retrofit the HK system. $2K would but a killer aftermarket system.
