2005 clk tranny leak HELP

I just bought a really clean 2005 clk cabroliet with only 24k miles. It started leaving little drops of oil on the floor and the local shop said the tranny pan was leaking and tightened it up. Two weeks later it started dripping again. I took it to Aamco(should be cheaper then Benz) and they said the transmission control adapter was leaking and needed to be replaced. 5 HOURS LABOR Can it be that hard to fix? HELP

Your car has the 722.6 transmission, and a common problem is that the pilot bushing for the electrical connector leaks. The part (A2035400253) is about $15, and the replacement is very simple:

Personally, I'd NEVER take my MBZ to AAMCO or Mr. Transmission or any place like that. I'd use the dealer or a good MBZ-specialist indy.

Oh, and when they tightened the pan bolts, they may have damaged them. They are one-time-use aluminum bolts and the torque on them is only 8Nm.

Everytime I read about this pilot bushing (the 13 bit connector), I am amazed how inexpensive this is. Mine was changed twice, one by the dealer and one by my indie.

Good to to know about the pan bolts. My indie dropped the pan 3 times, twice for the pan ATF flushes, one to replace the conductor plate. He did not change the bolts at all 3 times. I will buy new bolts for my next pan flush.

To the OP, go to the dealership or find a reputable MB indie near your area. Depending on the amount of ATF lost, you may want to get this looked at right away.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. From the MBZ repair sheet you sent, this repair should take about 30 minutes including on and off the rack. If I can get the front end off the ground, it sounds like I could do this my self, already replaced the windshield washer pump and grommet and the boot struts in the trunk. How much fluid will I lose when I pull the adapter out of the tranny if the front end is off the ground? I know, hard to answer. Thanks

If you want to DIY the cursed electrohydraulic bush here is a step by step.

Check for fluid having wicked up the harness to the TCU under the passenger kick plate. You don't want it to get into the TCU.

Expect to lose at least a quart of fluid, more if you work slowly. As for lifting, I generally use the front-center lift point - it's the big rubber block right under the center of the engine. I jack there and then place jack stands under the side jack points.
