CLK500 AMG
code P0730

today for the first time i used the code reader on my w 209,03 CLK 500. I had P0730 code or Incorrect Gear Ratio. I was surprised because i didn't feel any issues with the transmission the car runs and drives smooth. It has about 160 k miles on, what do you guys think i need to do about it?
thanks

Ignore it. Sometimes you can get the odd, intermittent error due to voltage fluctuations.

I was thinking to change the oil and filters on the transmission, but I will just leave it and see over the time if it comes again. thanks for your advice

Rodney, I just had that code and the check-engine light came on. After the car sat for a day, I started it again and the CE light was not on.

I haven't driven it since. I've been too busy and want to take it in to the dealer for a diagnosis.

I bought the car off lease, certified, with a one-year warranty that has expired. Since then, I've read about some problems like radiator fluid seeping into the tranny and valve bodies or sensor plates going bad.

Is that code an indicator of such problems? I have 55K miles and had the fluid and filter replaced at 52K miles by my local shop who employs a former MB tech.

It could be, but I'd get the codes pulled from the TCU first, since that's just a generic OBDII code. If you want to do a visual inspection for oil intrusion, the TCU is located under the passenger side footwell. Pull the carpet down from under the dash, remove the foam insulation, and then the metal "cage" (two bolts secure it at the bottom edge). The TCU is attached it the bask side of it. I doubt you have the other issue, which is the Valeo radiator that mixes coolant and transmission oil - those were discontinued in MY2004.
