Distance Warning Light
Can someone shed some light...
On the instrument cluster we have the ESP light which is YELLOW TRI-ANGLE.
opposite we have a RED TRIANGLE with a picture of a car.
I looked up in the owners manual it is a DISTANCE WARNING LIGHT. OKAY, what does that mean?
The manual says, it should come on when car starts then go off.... there is absolutely no other information on that light. I scanned most all of the pages, and NOTHING
AND I never thought much about it... but the other day when I was taking the wifes C240 in, I noticed she has the same light on her dash. But I do not ever recall ever seeing this light come on ever in either of the 2 cars.
I assume it comes on before a collision or when tail gating someone?

This light is a plain old ignition light on most cars.
In Benz speak "Warning lamp without function. It illuminates when the ignition is on. It should go out when the engine is running."
On early cars fitted with Distronic it was also used as a warning light that you were too close to the vehicle in front of you along with the audible alarm.
