Apple is no help; "device name" cannot be changed. One of their annoying "experts" says 'you have to change the name the car sends'. Is that even possible??

Go into Settings of the iPhone then go to General then About tap on Name.
Change the name from there. Delete your iPhones from the command and reset them up.

Louie, I think the problem is that that Eddie can't tell which car is which from his iPhone because both appear as the same name in his phone, not the phone's name in the car. I guess my question is, why does it matter? You can only have it connected to one car at a time. I guess if it really bothers you get an Android - you can change the BT device name in the phone, regardless of what the device calls itself.

*I start my wife's E350 in the morning, which likely connects my phone if I have it on me; if I then get in my own car, it can't connect automatically. Why it doesn't eventually connect on its own is beyond me; yet another Apple mystery, like when a call comes in on Bluetooth, muting the stereo and displaying on the COMAND, if I answer by pressing "answer" on the phone (as opposed to the steering wheel or COMAND) it defaults to the phone itself while displaying the connection options MB PhoneSystem and Speaker. Apple thinks this is an advantage? Reminds me of MS Word, which in earlier versions had a "print" icon: want to print? One click. Now since Word 2007, you get to click the "Office Button" (1), then find "Print" (2), and finally select "OK" (3) in the Print dialog box. Progress, Microsoft-style.
Employer-provided phone, not my call.

Sorry, Eddie. Maybe you need to find a new employer? No, seriously, I have some issues with my Galaxy SIII BT, too. So far, the mCAR unit in the CLK work swell with it (though no phonebook download), but the Pioneer AVIC in the C240 is flaky with it as is the V-Tech cordless phone system in the house - I always have to connect manually.
