C300 4Matic
CLK320 Mystery

I have a C300 4Matic and am looking for a nice CLK320 Cabriolet. I've found one on eBay, (2004)but notice something odd on service report. Transmission serviced at 11,000' 23000 and almost 27000 miles. Does anyone else think this sounds strange?

Below is report:

A common problem on those was a leaking bushing on the electrical connector for the transmission. It's odd it had to be serviced multiple times, but maybe it was that, plus other general shifting complaints. Carfax reports can also be just wrong sometimes.

I guess the only way to know would be to have access to the MB database where notes are made on the visits or to know the previous owner.

Take the car to an MBZ dealer and pay for a pre-purchase inspection (probably around $200). They probably won't give you the VMI report showing details of all repairs (because it has personal information from prior owners), but the SA may be willing to discuss the items with you. In some cases, they will provide the VMI with the prior owner info redacted, and in a few cases, I've seen some SA's just hand over the VMI without even being asked, and nothing redacted) though they can get in big trouble for that.

Service History

These cars (mine included) are forever flashing a warning message indicating you need service ! Engine oil levels should be checked at workshop. These messages keep your cute drop top at the workshop with the MB Elves!. And its not a cheap car to keep, I would be more than happy to share my maintenance expenses with you by email on my little 2000 CLk over here in NC and keeping her purring on a State Employee Salary looks grim sometime. But those warning messages keep popping up so you are not going to run the risk of ignoring them Well this girl isn't anyway. Good Luck, Daisie

If you are getting a low oil level warning, it could be that you have an oil leak or are burning oil. But if not, it could just be a bad sensor that needs replacement. Neither if these are common problems.
