Blower Motor Resistor and Blower Motor Questions

Ok - I have 12 volts running from car to blower motor resistor . . . so that's good.

My volt meter shows 6 volts from blower motor resistor to blower motor . . . does that mean I have a bad blower motor resistor or is the 6 volt reading appropriate - I assumed that I would have no current through the blower motor resistor if it were bad; surprised to see the 6 volt reading . . .

I want to check my blower motor. I do not know, however, if the blower motor is 12 v or - because of the 6 volt reading on the resistor - whether it is a 6 v motor . . . don't want to hook the blower motor up to the 12 v car battery if the motor is indeed 6 v. . .

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
