Thumbs down POWER STEERING/BRAKING

Hi guys and girls of the Mercedes world. Ive recently bought a Mercedes 2004 CLK 270 CDI and ive notice the braking doesnt feel as assisted and the steering doesnt feel as light as others i have driven. do you think this could meant he power steering pump is on ts way out?
does the pump do the assisted braking aswell?

or do you think this could be something else?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

x

No connection between power steering & braking. Most people complain that the power steering is too light. How light the steering feels depends on whether you have standard power steering (heavier & nicer to most) or Parametric power steering (lighter). Or a faulty pump or rack. Bad pumps usually make a noise. Make sure PS fluid level is correct.

Poor braking feel could be poor choice of brake pads. OE feel best. OR a problem with your vacuum pump. (remember this is a diesel)
