KB24forlife24's Quad Exhaust Thread
#26
What's necessary is a bit of a moot point. No mods are "necessary" on a car. That being said, I'd probably go with at least 2.5 and maybe 3 if supercharging. 2.25 is pretty much at the top of the possible HP range with this engine. So no, you don't need any more...but you're not getting anything out of it either.

Do you have any clips of this figuration (with the magnapacks)? And did your x pipe into quads drone and at which RPM/speed? Oh yeah I am not gonna touch my cats because I live in CA haha. I have to re-cut my bumper because it's too small and my exhaust guy said I can only do 2.0" piping. How big is your piping?
I have 2.5" piping. With the x pipe into straight pipes into quads there was Zero drone... but O god it was snappy loud! With the resonators (magnaflow packs) now I have a very slight drone around 2000 rpm, but the car sounds mean as **** under wot. My friend has a 500bhp 335 and he is terribly envious of the sound.
I have a pretty bad sound clip of the x pipe into straight pipe exhaust (no resonators or mufflers at all, cat/res delete)...
Page two of my thread has some various exhaust setup and my thoughts (when they drone etc). The review of current setup is on last page but no pics.

Good luck!

Ok I got back from the body shop and they fixed the "tight" gap in the cuts. It's just ever so slightly widened to fit the tips snug. I'm gonna go to Autozone or O
Reilly for a heat shield and I may do the exhaust tomorrow. I'm gonna just tell them to do 2.5". Here are the pics of the redone bumper cut

Wait, that's the final cutout? Are you planning to do a diffuser to cover that up? It's not even symmetrical. One cut has almost straight edges and one is all rounded. Have them clean that up.
Use this stuff for the heat shield. It's pretty good. DEI 050502.

Yeah that's the final cutout; I know it's not perfect and one has more rounded edges than the other but it's fine. They said they measured the height off the ground and made the adjustments there, so it's fine to me. I won't be using a diffuser.

I don't have a new pic but here is an old one and you can see where the magnaflow magnapacks are put in.

Aight as long as you're happy. Pick up that sticky heat shield stuff. Works great.
Also, yes cats make a difference. I wouldn't mess with them seeing how you're getting very little power out of removing them. More of a headache than anything else.

do you think my local store would have it or what I have to purchase it online because I might do the exhaust tomorrow
#36
Yeah the dust and markings from the body shop is still on there haha. I'll probably clean those later tonight but hopefully I could get it done right tomorrow!
#37
If you got a dremel tool clean that up a little bit. As for the heat shield...just buy it online. Just add it later. Don't worry nothing is gonna melt.

I have a dremel laying around in my storage area but where could I fix it? I measure the gap from the top to the bottom and width and everything is almost exactly the same even though the cuts may look different ?

You could then tape over the cutout outside surface leaving the edges un-taped and use a black spray paint to lightly coat the edges (you have to lay under teh car). Two light coats, 15-20 minutes apart should do it. Remove the tape.

You would just need one of the small grinding attachments for the dremel. Set it on low rpm. Use it at an agle of about 45 degrees from the outside to inside surface. Then just smooth the edges.....

Hey everyone, so I didn't go today because of heavy rainfall in my area due to this storm on the west coast but I sprayed my passenger side with some undercoating and bought some exhaust wrap as well. I am going in the morning to the exhaust shop to have everything put on. But for now here is a picture of the undercoat spray.

Here it is!
Okay I did the exhaust today! What they did was chop off everything after the second cats, installed my magnaflow X-pipe and go with two 2.25" piping all the way to the tips. I looked at the 2.5" and that was too big for the clearance and having two 2.5" I think would be too much, so I went with 2.25" all the way. My exhaust shop did a great job at bending the pipe under the sway bar and going through the spare tire. I'll get some revs and flybys recorded later when it stops raining, hopefully tomorrow haha.
