Brake squeak revisited

I have a squeaky brake problem during light braking when the brakes are at operating temp. I have tried the suggestion of a few hard stops to "resurface the pads", this helped for a day but the sqeak returned. The squeak seems to only be coming from the front pssngr. side brake. My car has 2800 miles and the squeak started @ about 2000 miles. Anyone had this problem and if so the fix please. My last resort is having to bring the car to the dealer as they always seem to screw something up .

Thanks

Brake Squeal

I too had the "squealing" on my front driver side brakes. It showed up about 4000K. After 2 times of complaing to the dealer I finally got some action. The mechanic first told me the pads are "glazed" and I should brake hard and often to get them to take a better shape and stop squealing. That did not work!!

I finally left my car in the shop about 2 months ago with a list of things that were bugging me and a copy of the TSB report for 2003 CLK500. The front brakes pads and rotors are both found to be "faulty" on that list. When I picked up my car, too my surprise, they did almost $4200 in warranty work and it shows a replacement of the PADS AND ROTORS. This problem is for the FRONT brakes only.

Hope this helps for something.

My brakes have been squealing quite a bit lately and I'd like to get the problem fixed - how do you get a copy of the TSB?

After 12,000 miles I had the squeaking problems with my brakes, along with many other problems. After the dealer attempted to fix the problem, they decided to replace the entire braking system.

Can someone post the TSB report...

Thanks.

TSB

I did not have the ACTUAL TSB report. A long time ago I printed somebodies post of about 11 items that were on the 2003 CLK500 TSB for warranty service. I brought that list in for proof of existing problems that were found to be very common. Dealers do not volunteer warranty work until you back them in a corner after MANY visits. I will try and get that list back though.

Problems ranged from loud fans, bad wipers, faulty front brake pads and rotors, headlight malfunctions, poor intermittent power, problem with clock and a few others. I tried to search the posts, but I do not remember where the hell it was.....sorry!!

Get Pissed

Print out that list and take it to your dealer. Demand that the problems be fixed or talk to the salesman about a lemon. I too had half of the troubles and about half a dozen visits later, they are ALL fixed. The final warranty bills were over $5000 and I became a real pain in their ***. That's why they don't want to fix the problems correctly. It sucks wasting your time at the dealers when they probably know exactly what is wrong, but probably don't have permission or the morals to fix them correctly because of the $$$$ involved..

Those are my 6 visits but animated!! Hope you have better luck.

PS: As you might have noticed all these problems are with 2003 not 2004 models. Now you know MB has the TSB trouble Report.

2003 CLK 320
I have had my 2003 clk 320 for one year and on e month and just took it in for 10,000 mile service the only problem that I have had was the wiper blades being loud and the sun roof kicking back open when trying to shut it. They fixed both problems. I was not to happy when I got the car back and they yucked my car up in side.
I have the ash interior. It was spotless when I drop it off and it was dirty when I got it back. I complained to the service manager and he took care of it for me and cleaned it up. This might sound being a little picky but I expect it to be returned in the same condition that I left it. I am very happy with the car and the service fixing things so far but they need to be careful when they are in the car working on things if it has ash interior. This might sound a little **** but it just erks me that it was not returned the way I left it. I will make sure when I go for the next service that I will explain the problem I had with the first service
and want a clean car when I pick it up. Sorry for blowing off some steam .

2018 E63S,
I just dropped off the car at the dealer. They said they wont cover brakes since my car has 15,000 miles on it and warranty covers brakes only to 12K miles. Damned **** mother****ers.

My 04 500 was in for squeaky brakes @ 4200 miles, the dealer clean the caliper pins and applied special anti-squeak paste...this did nothing to fix the problem. Anyone have this fixed for good?

I have an 03 clk 500 which has given me every problem ever described in this forum.

The brake squeak problem took me 3 visits to the dealer to get resolved... after trying to sand the pads and rotors and applying lubricants etc... the problem was solved when they replaced the brake pads and rotors in the front.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to tell my dealer that there are updated pads and rotors but they never listen
