I just did the tranny service (filter and fluid) on mine but didn't do this. i do think I see a connector in that spot.

No, the 722.9 transmissions do not have this connector. The TCU is internal. There is a wiring connector, but it's on top of the housing and (so far) has not had any leak problems.
