Oddly this afternoon the back light (ones behind that illuminate the speed, rev and clock) stopped illuminating.

I have checked the fuses just in case and they all test ok.

I removed the instrument cluster and found no traditional light bulbs but what looked like ribbon tape that disappears behind the panels

Anyone have any ideas on a fix,

It's likely that the Mylar ribbon cable inside the cluster has started to crack or peel away from its contacts on the solid circuit board. Unfortunately, this really can't be fixed and you will need the dealer to replace the entire. Expect to pay around US$2,000.
