After-market radio HU upgrade
I know this is an old topic and I have an old car (2004 CLK 500 Cabriolet), but the car only has 53,000 miles on it and I'd like to get rid of the crappy head unit.
I'm not planning a DIY job, I'll take it to an installer. And I already know about the D2B issues. I just want to hear folk's advice on which unit to get and whether or not it would be better to get a single DIN with a pop out screen, or go double DIN. I like the pop out screen because it seems to get the screen higher and closer to the driver's line of site, but the double DIN looks better and probably is more stable (i.e., less rattles).
Anyway, people love to give their opinion and that's what I'm looking for. Especially interested in hearing from folks that have actually upgraded.
Finally, does anyone have experience with the units from iCarTech in Berlin? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Comand-Ntg4-Alternative-Mercedes-C-Class-W203-W209-Android-Car-Radio-Dvd-Gps-/231382829943?hash=item35df7dcb77&vxp=mtr
Thanks in advance.
Happy New Year!

I prefer the double-DIN over folding screen. As you say, it's more stable and less prone to vibrations and rattles. I think it look better, too. I'd go with the largest screen you can get. Your car will actually hold a "larger-than-DIN" radio, but good luck finding one.
